Although I spent many years travelling extensively in Europe and working both in Spain and in France, it wasn’t until I was in my early 30’s that I really started to travel long haul to all those mysterious far flung destinations.
Starting with India, I then went to Thailand for the first time. This was followed a couple of years later by a ‘world tour’ taking about a year and a half, during which Thailand was my base most of the time.
Since then I have continued to travel, but find that I am drawn back to South East Asia and Thailand in particular.
These days, I spend around 5 months a year in Thailand, mostly in rural Isaan, but with regular trips to more well known places like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Hua Hin and the islands too. I make a point of visiting neighbouring countries as well while I am here. Recent trips have included motorcycling through Vietnam and trekking in Borneo to see Orangutangs, Pygmy elephants and various other wildlife. I have travelled around Malaysia, Sumatra, Cambodia and Laos as well as visiting Singapore.
I understand life in Thailand well both from a holiday perspective and from living here, albeit part time for the moment.
I am also a partner in a fully ABTA and ATOL bonded UK based Travel agency, Outstanding Holidays and so I can help and advise on travel, holidays and excursions all over the world.
Travel and adventure is in my blood and I hope to be able to pass on that passion and the information that I have gleaned over a lifetime of travel to you.
The website is full of resources, guides and information, but it also about my personal travel journey, you can read my journals or just stick with the factual help and guidance side as you wish.
